Our Power, Our Planet
This year’s Earth Day activities will aim to bring people around the world together to act against climate change, to unite behind renewable energy and to advocate and triple clean energy usage worldwide by 2030. There are many different exciting activities and events that you can create for this day or for the whole of April just take part and join in via the global site.
Once you have decided to set up an event in your community / city or town then be sure to register this (you can also view what others are doing if you are struggling for inspiration) just look for Earth Day activities and the map of the world to find out more via the main Earth day site.
The Earth Hub is a great place to expand your knowledge by using fun quizzes and educational tools. You can share the link with your colleagues, friends and family to pass on the knowledge and spread the word. There are various useful tool kits at your disposal via their site as well as petitions you can sign up to or get involved in if you are able.
This year’s Earth Day activities are estimated to get involvement from 1 million schools from all over the world to integrate Climate Education into their curriculum. It is also estimated that 7.5 million pounds of garbage will be removed through the Great Global Clean Up project along with 550,000 trees being planted via the Canopy Project.
The many aims of this month (not just focusing on one day 22nd April) are to Restore Our Earth through exploring natural processes/ emerging green technologies and innovative thinking that can restore the worlds ecosystems. For example, getting involved in climate education, learning about reforestation projects and how to make donations along with showing support towards regenerative agriculture and various land or water-based clean-up activities and projects.
Don’t forget to come back next week where we will conclude all things Earth Day.
